Garrett Ripa
Field Office Director, DHS/ICE/ERO
Garrett J. Ripa is the Field Office Director (FOD), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations’ (ERO) Miami Field Office. Mr. Ripa is responsible for managing the Miami Field Office that encompasses a total of 652 authorized positions, 16 sub-offices, and 4 detention facilities. The Miami Field Office’s area of responsibility covers enforcement operations throughout the State of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands as well as a Migrant Operations Center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Mr. Ripa began his career with the United States Government in 1996 with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) as a Detention Enforcement Officer (DEO) in Miami, FL. He promoted to a Deportation Officer (DO) in 2002, and after the formation of the Department of Homeland Security and ICE in March 2003, rose through the ranks of ERO with promotions to Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer (SDDO) in 2008, Assistant Field Office Director (AFOD) in 2016, Deputy Field Office Director (DFOD) in 2019, and now a Senior Executive Service Member and Field Office Director.
Mr. Ripa’s career highlights include various accolades and recognition from ICE Attaché Offices, to working on one of the nation’s top performing Fugitive Operations teams and distinguishing himself overseeing the nationally recognized Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) and the Warrant Service Officer (WSO) programs with ERO Headquarters. As AFOD, Mr. Ripa served as the Union Liaison for the Miami Field Office and represented management on union relations and negotiations.
