Chief Patrol Agent, United States Border Patrol, Miami Sector

In October 2024, Jeffrey J. Dinise was selected for the Senior Executive Service position of Chief Patrol Agent for the Miami Sector. In this capacity, Chief Dinise is responsible for border security operations between the ports of entry for approximately 187,000 square miles and is responsible for 1,279 miles of coastal border along the Atlantic and Gulf shores of Florida. 
 
In October 2023, Chief Dinise was initially appointed to the Senior Executive Service as the Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement Operations at U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters where he supported border security operations for the 20 U.S. Border Patrol sectors across the nation. 
 
Chief Dinise has held leadership positions at USBP Headquarters, and in Coastal, Northern, and Southern Border sectors. He previously served as Acting Chief Patrol Agent in the Havre, Montana and Detroit, Michigan Sectors in 2023; Deputy Chief Patrol Agent in Spokane, Washington Sector in 2022, Associate Chief at USBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2017; Patrol Agent in Charge in El Paso, Texas in 2019 and New Orleans, Louisiana in 2015; Executive Officer in Del Rio Sector in 2013; Assistant Chief at USBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2011; a second-line and first- line supervisor in San Diego Sector in 2009 leading an plainclothes investigative unit known as the Smuggling Interdiction Group; and a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent in Campo, CA in 2007. Chief Dinise began his career with the U.S. Border Patrol in December 2002 as a member of USBP Academy Class 535 and was initially assigned to the Campo Station in San Diego Sector. 
 
Throughout his career, Chief Dinise has accomplished many objectives to include developing a new Border Patrol career path; forming a multi-jurisdictional smuggling task force in Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA; establishing a consolidated National Off-Road Vehicle Program; implementing a national employee recognition program; and forging partnerships with District Attorneys in Southern California to prosecute criminals who assaulted agents. 
 
Chief Dinise is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Security and Defense Executive Leadership Program, the CBP Leadership Institute, and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from The American Military University. He is a 2022 recipient of the Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Award for Team Excellence, the U.S. Border Patrol Chiefs Commendation Award in 2019, and the Customs and Border Protection Commissioner’s Special Recognition Award in 2013.
